Kamalalawalu: Maui chief who invaded the Big Island and was defeated

Kekūhaupi`o:  Probably the most famous of warriors in Old Hawaii.  Kamehameha's top lieutenant

Kamehameha: Noted for uniting all the Hawaiian Islands into one Kingdom

Keoua: Batttled Kamehameha for nine years for control of the Big Island.  Killed by Kamehameha's staff personnel

Kahekili: Chief of Maui, defeated Big Island chief Kalaniopu'u who invaded Maui several times.

`Ī: One of Kamehameha's division commanders, father of Ahu

`Ahu: One of Kamehameha's division commanders, father of Manu`ā - Manuwā

Mahi: One of Kamehameha's division commanders

Manu`ā: Cited by Emerson in "Unwritten Literature of Hawaii: Sacred Songs of the Hula" as King of Hilo, famous for spear throwing (page 100)

Ka`iana: Was one of Kamehameha's lieutenants but felt betrayal was about to occur so switched allegiance to Oahu chiefs.  Died in battle of Nu'uanu on Oahu.

Kalanikūpule: Chief on Oahu.  Died in Battle of Nu`uanu by Kamehameha's forces.

Kaumuali`i: Chief of Kauai

Ka`eokūlani: Warrior chief from Kaua`i who died in the battle at Ponahawale, Ewa on Oahu by forces of Kalanikūpule.   HOME PAGE
